Located in the heart of Brazil, Goiás State was founded in the beginning of the 18th century by bandeirantes who arrived on the land seeking the precious gold that sprang up there. Distant from the ocean, but with precious sources of salty and sulphurous waters, the State keeps in its cities the marks left from the times when the region has thrived due to the wealth of its mines, the gold cycle of the colonial period. With a fondness for agribusiness – resource exploited after the end of the gold cycle – the State of Goiás became an important producer, and cattle raising is the main source of income, followed by industrial production and commerce.
